Alternate Definition

In plant morphology, "alternate" leaf arrangement refers to a pattern where leaves are attached to a stem one at a time, with each leaf alternating on opposite sides of the stem or in a spiral along the stem. This contrasts with opposite or whorled leaf arrangements where leaves appear in pairs or groups of three or more at the same node.
